Do Not Despise The Start of Small Beginnings

One of our key objectives at Transform Work UK is to connect workplace Christians to share good practice.  This is why our regional networking events are so important for us.  They often start small with just 2-4 group leaders but they are invaluable times of support and learning together.

In February a bunch of us met in Google HQ, led by our new associates Collin and Lyndsey Searle.  It was a time for sharing testimonies of what God is doing through His people in the workplace who had been active in loving and caring for all colleagues.  We heard how one Christian in an events organisation found fellow believers and through prayer and kindness they saw 20 colleagues, girls working in the toilets of nightclubs in London, come to faith in Jesus bringing hope and joy in an often thankless job.

Ros was given the opportunity to close the session with testimonies of how groups of Christians are impacting the workplace across the UK, bringing tangible benefits to whole organisations, not just individual colleagues within.

At the end of that meeting an anaesthetist from Great Ormond Street Hospital said she had 3 months left in the UK before heading back to the US.  The question she asked was,  “Do you think I could set up a group before I leave?”  I looked at her and with a massive grin on my face said, “All things are possible with the Father... let’s pray.”  To hear the result of that story please click on the video.  This is Lyndsey sharing the story with us.

As a result of this activity Elizabeth lead her first networking event in Holborn last month with 5 groups coming together.

Also, one of the delegates attending the Google session was Richard who has led the Christian group at Accenture for 30 years.  After a little encouragement he agreed to host his first networking event in Fenchurch Street.  At this meeting he was able to share the excellent news that Accenture is an employer that supports ‘Faith and Belief’ and is fully supportive by allowing staff to set up faith groups.   We’ll find out more about this story in next month’s newsletter...

Our next London based networking event is on August 15th after work in Facebook.  To book your place and for more information  www.transformworkuk.org/events
