eletter heading
“The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God.  Luke 2:10-13 (NIV)

Christmas is the time where we are reminded how God became personally involved with mankind. His entrance was gentle, non-threatening (how many people are scared of a baby?) and yet it was perfect in its planning and full of purpose. Jesus mission meant everything to Him and He used his humble, God-inspired origins to reach a world that craved for something beyond material possessions.

Sometimes in our workplace it’s easy to loose sight that our lives are also God-inspired and perfectly planned. God has placed us where we can reach the world around us that also craves for something that only God can give – a life of meaningful purpose and in knowing the author of it all.

I challenge myself constantly – does this mission mean everything to me? I pray that God will help us to use this season to be that ambassador where we work; to realize that work is our mission field and the place where we can stand out and show God’s love.

Christian Groups in the workplace
Which brings me to the subject of the role of Christian Groups in the workplace. In an interesting article, Graham Hedges asks the question on whether we should be ‘contending for the faith, or looking for a fight’. Take a look at the article shown below and let us know what you think.

Easter 2012
Finally, because it’s Christmas, it means that it’s time to start planning for Easter!  David Marshall has created ‘The Real Easter Egg’ company that is trying to get the Easter message back into Easter. The company does this by supplying Easter Eggs that outlines the Christian story that according to Alan Titchmarsh isn’t “too heavy”. Why not get your group to give these away at work, or at least to promote them? You can find out more in the article below as well as see the TV interview with Alan.

That’s it for this year – our next newsletter will be in January 2012.

We wish God’s every blessing on you, the people you work with and your families. Have a very happy Christmas and a great start to the new year.
