The Secret

(email to Transform Work UK, June 2010)
Hi Tom
Thanks to you and the team for responding so quickly and positively to the workplace issues affecting those in the public sector. Looking forward to the new webpage. Guess we need to be equally clear that public spending cuts are going to impact right across the economy and that many private sector colleagues will soon feel the effects.
I remember being in this situation once before and being asked by those around me 'what's the secret - why aren't you worried?' It's true that when the tide starts going out the people of God become more visible because they are still standing on the rock. We have a lifeline of hope and encouragement to offer those around us because it is what we live in from day to day.
Your quote about contentment I think is very apposite to the times. We have all become so used to our consumerist lifestyles that we have forgotten how to appreciate the other blessings in life. Maybe this is an opportunity, as people clear their credit card debts and think before they buy, to take stock and ask ourselves what we really value.
The Lord is good.
