"All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. "
Acts 1: 44-47 (NIV)
The reason why we celebrate Easter is that it was the time when God broke down the partition between people and Himself. From that point forward, through faith in Jesus and His sacrifice where we have been forgiven, we can now have direct access to God on a personal level.
It was God’s passion for people and their hopeless state that made this happen. Rituals were no longer required to come into His presence, instead God Himself came to live in the lives of those that love Him. His will is written on their hearts; His guidance and help are just a prayer away. The effect was immediate. People saw that God was bringing 'heaven on earth' through the actions of the disciples that followed.
Whenever the is a great move of God, God empowers people to move out, to change the status quo, to get rid of rituals from the past, in order that His followers may reach those that do not know Him - the object of His love.
As a Christian, I’m challenged by the mission Jesus set. To act in His place, to be a beacon of light, to bring hope and to be the ‘good news’. As we embark on this week of work, do we have a heart for people whether they be colleagues or managers? A heart driven by a passion that is devoid of ritual, that longs – as God’s heart does – to see others won for Him?
At Transform Work UK we pray that you and your Christian colleagues in the workplace will be inspired and have a renewed heart for people.
