People - Commitment

How do you get more regular committed members into the group (big distribution list, small physical group)? How do I increase buy-in from group members so I'm not driving everything along on my own?

Annette Davis Department of Health Christian Network Group
How do you keep people coming and involved? Plant the seed – you might never see the flower, but just keep planting the seed. Keep sending out the e-prayers or e-news. You never know who’s been encouraged and what heart you’ve touched at the right moment – keep planting seeds and watering them.
Don’t be disheartened when it’s just one or two
Don’t look at numbers
Don’t get tied up with wanting to see your group grow massively
Don’t get tied up with putting on events – before you know it you’ll be worn out!
Communication is key. In April this year we had a stand at a DH conference and we had people coming up to us and saying ‘well done’.

Have you ever turned up and been the only one there?

Yes but keep going! Heb 10:25 ‘do not give up in the habit of meeting together’ Use a vision / verse – sometimes I think why am I doing this? Remember – when 2 or 3 are gathered together in My Name… - you can be a help to another who might not have a strong faith as you.

BTCN is v large but with the small groups – do you have a problem with regular commitment to the CWG?

4. Go out for lunch together - do an activity
Don’t be disappointed when numbers are low. Find out people’s needs and try and help them.
There’s no simple answer – we have 22 lunchtime groups, breakfast groups that meet monthly, encourage small groups of 1 or 2 people. Let them come together and pray – you don’t know what stresses they are under. Encourage them.
Be flexible – adapt to people’s needs
BE persistent – ebbs and flows
PRAY - bless your group in prayer, bless your employer, colleagues, work.

Peter have you been the only person who’s turned up?

Yes and at first I felt disappointed – now I use the time to spend with Jesus.
